Last week, we were excited to announce the official launch of the Texas Scale-Up Coalition – a groundbreaking initiative set to transform our state's entrepreneurial landscape. This strategic partnership between the Texas Association of Business (TAB) and the Texas Venture Alliance (TVA) aims to foster collaboration and innovation among startups, entrepreneurs, and venture capitalists from the Lone Star State and across the globe. Leveraging Texas' well-earned reputation as the best place to do business, the coalition seeks to strengthen economic ties, encourage the exchange of innovative ideas, and secure the future of a thriving ecosystem where businesses from across the globe can continue to grow and “scale up” here in Texas.
By creating opportunities for startups, entrepreneurs, and other business professionals to connect and collaborate, the Scale Up coalition will play a major role in shaping Texas’ future within the global economy. Through events, workshops and networking opportunities, the coalition will encourage the sharing of ideas, best practices and cutting-edge technologies. Texas Scale-Up Coalition members will also benefit from access to TAB and TVA member benefits, amplifying the startup voice in business advocacy efforts at the Texas Capitol.
As TVA CEO CS Freeland made clear during last week’s launch, these efforts are focused on spearheading Texas-sized deals with Texas-sized allies:
“This collaboration not only supports entrepreneurs at home but also strengthens our ties with global innovators, fostering a dynamic environment for growth and innovation. Together, we're building a stronger, more competitive Texas on the global stage.”
Our focus extends across several key global industries, including: Aerospace and Space; Advanced Manufacturing; Semiconductors and AI; Energy; Healthcare and Biotechnology; Technology and Innovation; and Agritech – all of which are vital to keeping Texas at the forefront of innovation and growth.
The formation of the Texas Scale-Up Coalition was inspired by our recent trip to Israel, often referred to as the "Start-Up Nation" due to its thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem. TAB Chairman Massey Villarreal has been instrumental in forging new avenues for collaboration between the Start-Up Nation and the Scale-Up State. By combining Israel's startup spirit with Texas' resources and business-friendly environment, we aim to create a powerhouse for innovation and growth.
As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering global partnerships and knowledge sharing, last week TAB also co-hosted a roundtable discussion with Israel’s Start-Up Nation Central (SNC). The event brought together investors and entrepreneurs to unlock fresh opportunities in the Israeli innovation ecosystem. While global challenges continue to reshape industries, the “Start Up Nation” remains a pivotal source of cutting-edge solutions and compelling investment prospects, and our collaborations with innovators from Israel and across the world will continue to benefit Texas businesses and entrepreneurs alike.
We believe that by combining the start-up spirit of places like Israel with the scale-up potential of Texas, we can create unparalleled opportunities for growth and success. We invite all interested parties – from startups and established businesses to investors and industry experts – to join us for future opportunities to participate in and engage with the Texas Scale-Up Coalition, which will help shape the entrepreneurial landscape and future of the Lone Star State.
