TAB Applauds Abbott, Hancock and Leach for Fighting to Protect Businesses from Frivolous Lawsuits

Calls for Swift Passage of COVID Liability Protections

The Texas Association of Business (TAB) today called for the swift passage of Senate Bill 6 and House Bill 3659 which will provide civil liability protections to businesses that have operated safely during the pandemic. In his State of the State Address, Governor Abbott made this issue an emergency item and Senator Kelly Hancock (R-North Richland Hills) and Representative Jeff Leach (R-Plano) have filed bills in the Senate and House to ensure businesses are protected from frivolous lawsuits.

“Texas is fortunate to have leaders like Governor Abbott, Senator Hancock and Representative Leach who are fighting for common-sense laws to protect businesses that operated safely during the pandemic,” said TAB CEO, Glenn Hamer. “No Texan should have their livelihood destroyed because of a frivolous lawsuit, and this legislation will ensure businesses are able to rebound from the COVID economic downturn as quickly as possible. TAB is proud to support this critical legislation and will work in lockstep with the House and Senate to ensure its swift passage.”
