TAB Applauds Release of Texas Jobs Council Regulatory Recommendations to Enhance Workforce Development
AUSTIN, TX – The Texas Association of Business (TAB) today applauded the release of regulatory recommendations from the Texas Jobs Council, announced by Governor Greg Abbott as part of a slate of agency directives to ensure Texas is prepared to meet the needs of employers to fill high-demand jobs.
The Texas Jobs Council, co-chaired by TAB Interim President & CEO Megan Mauro, has convened public officials alongside business leaders, labor leaders, employers, and workforce experts from across the state to develop action-oriented recommendations that reduce regulatory burdens and strengthen Texas’ workforce development system.
“Texas’ economic success has always been tied to the strength of its workforce,” said Megan Mauro, Interim President & CEO of the Texas Association of Business and Co-Chair of the Texas Jobs Council. “Employers across the state understand that our future depends on building strong pathways from education to employment, expanding workforce training opportunities, and ensuring Texans are prepared for the high-demand careers that will drive our economy forward.”
“This initiative is a testament to Governor Abbott’s vision and leadership in aligning workforce development with the needs of Texas’ thriving economy and job creators. We are confident the recommendations issued today will strengthen our workforce and expand opportunity across the state.”
Recommendations released today include specific directions for Texas state agencies – including the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), Texas Education Agency (TEA), Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB), and Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) – to take immediate steps through executive and agency authority to strengthen Texas’ workforce development system.
The Texas Jobs Council will also be developing legislative recommendations for the 90th Texas Legislature to consider, which will be included in a final report issued by the Council expected in November 2026.
