TAB Applauds Passage of Senate Bill 7 to Strengthen Texas’ Water Infrastructure
AUSTIN, TEXAS – Today, the Texas Association of Business (TAB) applauded the 89th Texas Legislature for passing Senate Bill 7 – a landmark step toward securing Texas’ water future that strengthens economic opportunity across Texas. Earlier this year, TAB joined Texas 2036 and more than 100 business organizations across the state to form the Texas Water Fund Coalition, which urged legislators to act on Governor Greg Abbott’s priority to make a “Texas-sized” investment in critical water infrastructure to support Texas’ growing population and business environment.
After the passage of Senate Bill 7 in the Texas House today, TAB President and CEO Glenn Hamer issued the following statement:
“Senate Bill 7 is a monumental step in securing our water future and ensuring that Texas has the capacity to not only maintain but further strengthen our world-class business environment. This is a smart, coordinated approach to water supply planning that provides clear guidance, encourages regional collaboration, and cuts through duplicative red tape and bureaucratic delays to ensure we can build and fortify the infrastructure we need for businesses and residents alike to have confidence in the viability of our crucial water supplies across the state.
“We have been proud to work alongside Texas 2036 and our partners in the Texas Water Fund Coalition in support of these critical investments, underscoring that this is a generational commitment that is not the responsibility of one organization or government. We are deeply grateful for the leadership and vision of Chairman Charles Perry, along with Governor Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Patrick, Speaker Burrows, and Chairman Cody Harris who have all made this legislation a top priority this session.”
